Southwestern Stamped Layered Copper and Turquoise Dangle Earrings
These Southwestern style earrings were fabricated out of a sheet of copper. I stamped and attached the two layers of the stamped copper with rivets and hung them from solid copper chains. Small 5mm natural turquoise beads are attached to the top and sides of the softly glowing copper pieces. These solid copper earrings measure 3" and are hung on my handcrafted rose gold filled ear wires. Gold filled ear wires will not harm your ears. They are thickly, 20%, coated with gold and will last a lifetime.

A simple rule of thumb is to always take off your jewelry first and put it on last. This helps limit their exposure to excessive moisture (i.e. shower, pool, ocean) and chemical products (i.e. sunscreen, lotion, hairspray, perfume), which will speed up the oxidation process. When they're not being worn, store them away neatly in a box or pouch, away from sunlight.
To clean your jewelry, gently wipe it with a jewelry polishing cloth, or clean it with mild soap and water.
Keeping copper clean and dry, removing any oil or perspiration helps prevent oxidation. Although it can tarnish over time, copper resists tarnish better than many other jewelry metals (including sterling which turns black). When it does oxidize it takes on a soft brown, antiqued color as it darkens, a much sought after "vintage" look in jewelry. The tarnish on copper can be easily removed if you prefer a bright look. If you do prefer the bright look, keep your copper piece in an air tight bag or jewelry box to prevent tarnish when not wearing. In addition, Copper jewelry is often considered to have healing properties.
