Abalone Pendant and Freshwater Pearls with Copper Necklace and Earring Set
A large luminescent New Zealand Abalone pendant hung from a decorative copper bail is the centerpiece of this captivating necklace. The pendant measures 50 x 33mm. The pendant is actually different on each side. So, you have a choice as to which side you prefer to be showing. The two pictures with the driftwood show both sides. I have added green iridescent cultured Freshwater Pearls that glow with green, blue and copper colors. Also included are 19 x 14mm Oval Decorative stamped Copper disc beads and, 4mm corrugated copper spacer beads are placed between each freshwater pearl. This 18" necklace is closed with a Copper S-Hook and Copper Bail. The matching 2" earrings are also included.
The discovery of copper dates from prehistoric times. There are reports of copper beads dating back to 9000BC found in Iraq. Methods for refining copper from its ores were discovered around 5000BC and a 1000 or so years later it was being used in pottery in North Africa.
