Bronze Pendant with Purple Fossil Coral and Amethyst on Neck Wire
This gorgeous solid Bronze pendant was handcrafted from bronze sheet, hand textured with jewelers hammers and riveted using handmade rivets. It is 3" wide X 2 1/8" long with a 20 x 27mm Purple Fossil Coral Teardrop Gemstone bead in the center of the bronze teardrop. I've added 4mm and 6mm Amethyst beads attached to the heavy wire loops on the ends of the pendant to give it additional color. The pendant is hung on a solid Bronze Neck Wire. Length of necklace is 17" with pendant 2 1/8" drop. This is an eye-catching piece that will be noticed for sure. It is like wearing a piece of art. Some have called it modern looking and others Viking in appearance. The next to last picture shows the back of the teardrop showing the flattened bronze wire that goes through the bead and to the back. I have wire wrapped the two ends to secure them and insure a smooth back to the pendant so there is nothing to catch on your clothing. The last picture shows red Fossil Coral in its natural state.
The first known existence of BRONZE dates to about 3500 BC and the Sumerians and lends its name to the Bronze Age. The discovery of bronze enabled people to create better metal objects than before. Tools, weapons, armor, and various building materials, like decorative tiles, made of bronze were harder and more durable than their stone and copper. As time progressed, the use of bronze in art, sculpture and architecture flourished. Bronze and copper jewelry has always existed and always will.
