Royal looking fabulous Dark Blue Dumortierite gemstones and gold filled beads and findings are the main attraction of this gorgeous necklace and earring set. The Dumortierite disc beads measure 25mm in the center and 15mm along the front of the necklace. Going towards the back of the necklace are 6mm round beads. In between the Dumortierite beads are 7 x 3.5mm Gold Filled Rondelles and 6mm and 3mm gold filled round beads. This 21 inch necklace is closed with a plain gold filled toggle clasp in keeping with the style of the necklace. The matching 1 15/16 inch long earrings are hung from rich looking gold filled shield leverbacks. You will be noticed wearing this very lovely set.

Dumortierite was first described in 1881 for an occurrence in Chaponost, in the Rhône-Alps of France and named for the French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier (1803–1873).  Sources of Dumortierite include Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Madagascar, Namibia, Nevada, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sri Lanka. Dumortierite is said to promote a positive attitude to life and to help you to stay 'young at heart'. In addition Dumortierite is said to calm and focus you in traumatic situations giving you the tools to cope with a crisis. GOLD FILLED is not like gold plated as there is approx. 100 times more gold in gold fill, than there is on plated. Gold filled looks and usually wears as well as karat gold. Gold fill is very hard wearing and should last under normal wear conditions for a lifetime. The technique is a sheet of gold is mechanically applied to the surface of the metal. United States requirements state that gold-filled jewelry must contain no less than 1/20 its weight in gold. Wash with gentle soap and water and dry. No harsh chemicals or rouge cloths are needed to keep gold fill components looking like new.
